PORTFOLIO

I capture an eclectic mix of adventure, landscape, night, nature, wildlife, travel, architecture and documentary photography, relishing the challenges and freedom of expression that come with them. My journey in photography has been an organic process and the medium for storytelling the experiences of my life.

NIGHT SKY

I relish going out into a cold dark night under a clear sky. From pitch darkness and milky way to bright moonlit scenes, comets, aurora and even cityscapes and landscapes - the night provides a whole different world of wonder to photograph.

Elements, light and shadow, shapes, forms and textures - there is so much to take in, and not just through the lens. Scotland’s light and landscapes are unique and ever invigorating, I have also been fortunate to photograph further afield.

LANDSCAPES

I am happiest and most content when I am in nature and this passion shines through in my photography. Biking, hiking, skiing, canoeing or just being, its all an adventure - and one on which I always have my (big heavy) camera with me.

WILDLIFE / ANIMALS

I would say I am an opportunistic wildlife photographer, what I may lack in patience - I make up for in enthusiasm. A collection of flaura and fauna which has crossed my path over the years…

TRAVEL

It is a real privilege to have had the means, the ability and foremost - the freedom to be able to travel. I first did so by myself at an early age, travelling around South America before going to university back in Scotland. It was on this trip that I really fell in love with photography back at the turn of the century - using my first camera: a 35mm 40 year-old Olympus OM-1. So many encounters, discoveries and wild experiences that I could only capture through the lens. Since then I have been able to travel through a mixture of work and adventure, and have always had a camera by my side.

ADVENTURE / LIFESTYLE

DOCUMENTRY

Formally working in humanitarian / development aid, and although for now based in Scotland - I have been fortunate to travel to some fascinating, less visited and beautiful places. My camera has always been with me; a tool for observation and documenting during fieldwork, but also for capturing a slice of life, visions of landscapes and environments which reflect rich variety and diversity.
